Winter Garden

She sits above her winter garden
On nature's tightrope, lingering
Among bare trees and pines.
She's balancing her plumpness
Against winter's cold hand
As she turns her face right, then left.
Below her lies a slushy footpath
Outlined with old and new berries.
Somewhere between gray skies
And evening's close I watch
Her careering flight back home.

This is exquisite, Michell!

"Nature's tightrope, lingering" and

"winter's cold hand" - just beautiful images.

"Between gray skies and evening's close" also a lovely image.

I adore this!

I feel sorry for that bird -- so cold and lonely on that snow laden branch.

Beautiful, both the photo and the text. That bird does look cold!

Gorgeous poem and picture.

I saw a blue heron in the park the other day and thought to myself, "Naquillity would have been able to get a great photo of that." :)

"balancing her plumpness" made me smile.....as we all seem to do that, at this time of the year.....

"sure i'll have another frosted cookie to eat....and some more pie while you're at it.....and let's have some eggnog to wash it down with".....
