I like how you've added a personality to the crawdad, without making it overly sentimental. What a beautiful haiku full of sensitivity and awareness. The alliteration works well... as well as the word, "mounded." You've used only a few words to say a lot.

My brother and I used to seine them from a ditch before we went fishing, to use for bait. The ones in Oklahoma were not that big.
