Red Bellied Woodpecker

Spotted this red bellied woodpecker at our local nature preserve last week. He was foraging for food in a different area than the northern flicker. I think he's trying to listen to the click of my camera, don't you think? Happy Wild Bird Wednesday...

What a fine bird! You have so many varieties of Woodpecker in the US! I love the way he has turned his head.

I love these handsome guys! Just saw one this morning as I drove out of our RV resort. Hope he's still there next time I am on foot . (You'd think he'd want to wait for me wouldn't you? ;>)!!
