A Lone Starling

Thursday evening we came home to find a lone starling inside our basketball goal base. We could hear her flitting around inside and occasionally we saw her poke her beak outside the opening. It wasn't until we turned the goal upside down over a center block that she was able to reach the opening without trouble and fly out. What a great feeling it was for my hubby and I to save that lone starling from certain death. We found out later from our daughter that she had heard it flitting around that same morning but didn't know what it was. So, I'm guessing she was in there all day Thursday before her rescue. Have you ever been able to rescue wildlife from certain death? Please share your experiences in the comments below.

What a happy thing to be able to do! I seem to remember rescuing a young Hedgehog from the road.

I rescued a baby robin from my window well one night last spring, before it fell into the clutches of a neighbouring cat. I even restored it to its mother by tucking it into a hanging basket. The next morning, the mother came and fed it in in the basket until it was brave enough to fly away and rejoin its siblings and her.

It made me feel good for weeks.

I love how you saved the starling.
