voice & grace

shuck this body of sin
'lowing
God's voice and grace without slant.

NaPoWriMo 2011, day 3

Not without poetry had a photograph prompt today with the words: voicing, shucked & slant. I decided to use only the words.

Shuck this body of sin is good. I would have thought only of corn. Shucking corn and shucking a body is good imagery for my brain. I hope that makes sense.

I used to hear the word used like that when I was a kid.
Good work!

I love that first line, but it reminds me of death. Nice poem - you have a great way with words.

You have a very profound way with words but is shuck primarily an American word as I haven't heard it used before.

Carver April 8, 2011 8:28 AM

You are doing such a good job with the prompts.

The word "shuck" is so dramatic...like an intense slap or wake-up! A powerful piece!

Great word choice, so important when so brief. Made me think ~ Effective!

Love the opening line-- made my mouth water thinking about how it feels to form the words. Happy Tau-Day!
