Red Fox

This morning was one of the few times I didn't grab my camera and take it with me. How I longed to have it in my hands to share the beautiful sunrise rising above last night's snowfall. But, not all was lost as my daughter spotted this red fox hunting in the field adjacent to our house. He would stop and look back at her every so often before his attention was drawn back to the mouseburger he was trying to catch. If you look closely you can see him carrying the mouseburger in his mouth (top pic).

I woke early this morning to read Japan was hit with an 8.9 earthquake followed by a tsunami. I want those who've endured this tragedy to know my thoughts & prayers are with them. To my friends in Hawaii... may God watch over you.

It snowed here too overnight, but the sun is bright today. I have a friend that lives in Kauai and her daughter and grandchild live in Tokyo. My first thoughts were of their well-being.

Doesn't he show up well? You must have lots of wildlife around your area.

I have been watching all day.

Thanks for your well wishes. We in Hawaii escaped with some flooding and damage, but no lives were lost.

I remember watching my folks' cats stalk their mouse-burgers and their vole-burgers.

Great shots - he shows up very well against the snow. I've seen foxes where I live, but I've never been able to get a photo of one.

You know, I see a fox just every now and then...maybe once a year. How wonderful that you got to capture this one with your camera.

Thank you so much. Hawaii is OK, but I'm still worried sick about Sendai and Tokyo. I shudder to think what we'll be learning in the days ahead.

I usually take my camera with me where ever I go, so I know the feeling of fustration when I forget it and come across a great photo scene. The fox really does show up well against the snow. What a treat to see.

My MIL lives in our suburban neighborhood and she sees a red fox now and then, which surprised me.

I have only seen a fox here a couple of time and they do help control the rodents.....Michelle

I echo your sentiments for Japan (& Hawaii), Naquillity. What a time of suffering: my prayers go out to all.

As for your fox photos, how beautiful the scene looks with the glistening snow ... and I guess a fox has to eat!
