Pond's Edge

They turned on their hooves with white tails flagged and darted into the woods.  We'd entered their nature preserve, uninvited. Their warnings went unheeded as we continued past a frozen pond with a protruding log. Our eyes wandered along blue sky as we watched a crow swoop down and peck a red tailed hawk circling a tree. Upon turning our heads we watched twenty robins gather in a tree beside a semi frozen pond. They flew from their perches to drink along the pond's edge.

Nice picture. You have robins already! Oh, I can't wait to see my first one of the year!

Wonderful photos, Naquillity! I have never seen so many Robins together. Our Robins are quite different and very territorial. They can become quite aggressive to each other if the wrong one turns up on a 'taken' patch ... and yet they are the gardener's friend (a case of cupboard-love, I suspect, on account of the worms that are turned over in the soil!).

Wow, they look really good. The only ones I have seen this winter were faded and shabby.

I thought I caught a glimpse of a robin last night, but never got a better look. However, we have had close to 70º weather today so I won't complain.

Despite the formidable winter we had robins through the entire season. Lately they have been returning in droves, far too early even though recently it has been warm.

The patterns we are used to, the one's that have been around for our entire lives, are changing. O think we'd better get used to it.

We saw robins in our snowy backyard last weekend - we thought we were imagining things. Apparently not!

How nice that you've been getting out in nature. I feel really dumb, I addressed a box for you before I left for vacation, like a week or two before, lol. And it's still sitting there, I guess I thought it would make it via osmosis, lol.
