Nature Preserve

After eating Chinese Saturday evening the family and I went to a local nature preserve. Turkey vultures circling above the mountains and deer grazing in a small clearing were but two living creatures we'd seen before entering the preserve. The sun was shining and the breeze waxed gentle across our skin.

Our daughter took down a footpath with her bike beneath her while my husband and I went down another path to a small pond filled with frogs. There was a distinct comfort surrounding each of us as we parted. My husband went in search of archaeological finds as I snapped pictures of unsuspecting frogs.

Before evening closed its eyes on the last bits of daylight I was able to film two frogs mating and another sounding its chorus (check video in sidebar for the latter). Evening's eyelids are heavier now as we walk back along the earlier path. It's there our daughter sees her first bat flying in open sky.

I so enjoyed this post, Naquillity. I looked for frogspawn at the weekend quite near Stonehenge, but failed to find it.

We saw our first bat of the season about a week ago. he must have been feeling brave as it's still chilly here...

Sounds so peaceful. It is neat you all have interests which take you outdoors. We had a chance to explore a new campground last week. It was empty because the season won't start until May but it had all been cleaned up - it was wonderful to walk there.

It's great to see you back in the blogging world.

It sounds wonderful. Each of you had your own interest, but you were sharing the moment and in harmony with nature and each other.

This is the best kind of day(or evening) to have!

To share nature with her- building a special bond. (Plus, I've now answered that question I asked you in your current post.)
