Cardinal

Yesterday, thanks to my daughter, I glimpsed a cardinal at my bird feeder for the first time. Its cocked head and seed between a half opened beak reminded me of how nature can share a little 'tude?  Isn't he just gorgeous? I've also been visited by a few other birds: a robin, a red winged blackbird, blackbirds, goldfinches and finches. Hope everyone is having a great day~

Cardinals are beautiful from a distance with their striking coloring, Naq. Close up they remind me of a pugnacious old sailor named Jack. I have no idea why, but it kinda rhymes with Naq. But I only see them close up when using my long lens 'cause they're so damn shy.

utenzi nice rhyme with Naq/ Jack. and yes, they are shy ones.

Good morning, Naquillity. I love your drawing and photo. When we were small we used to have a Red Cardinal on one of the sets of cards in our game of Pelmonism (pairs memory game). I was always fascinated by it (& was always hopeless at the game!).

I thought you might like to see a red bird from my neck of the woods - we don't see these very often...

Glad to have you back with us, Naquillity. Cardinals are our state bird and frequent visitors to my home.

They are our state bird. So colorful and nice shot! I wish the coons did not mean our bird feeders had to go. (raccoons ate all the food.)

The name of your blog is ingenious. (sorry the form never works for me for my typepad blog and is not atatched to my Google account: only name and open url option is a choice I can fill in if offered, so here it is):

gelglad you were able to make it by. sorry to hear the coons are eating all your birdseed. i don't have that problem yet but, i wouldn't be surprised if i received it sometime because we have an open field close to our house. glad you like the name of my blog. i'm rather partial to it myself... grin. btw, i'll be dropping by soon.

This is one of my favourite bird-visitors to the backyard.
Thanks for the personal invitation. What you've done here looks wonderful!
I'll add you to my feed reader. I can't do the Blogger following or I'll get swamped again.

I'm still waiting for a robin to come into my backyard.

I have a daughter, too. Isn't nice when they help out? Unfortunately, the raccoons mean we took our birdfeeders down. Still, I tried to capture something...Love the rich red of male cardinals. Nice shot.
P.S. Thank you very much for your comments. Writing nurtures my soul as much as my arts. (I noticed you're in the field of art as well!) I adore comments. I used to reply to each and every comment, but needed to give that up for reasons of time.
