famished

a grasshopper's shoulders
are two miniscule circles
of hunger today.
he takes the stone this morning
and waits for a quenching rain.

This is an amazing tanka!! Love the way you've divided the lines and how you've perceived something so easily overlooked and rarely written about--a grasshopper's shoulders. :)

Delicate and poignant. An observation of a detail that can be seen in a wider sense. Well done! I saw a dead huge grasshopper lying beside a road yesterday. It made me sad.
