Fountain Ice

Tuesday I went downtown to take some pictures of a friends art exhibit when I noticed the town's fountain water frozen. Walking around its perimeter I found stalactites and stalagmites fusing to the fountain rock's underbelly reminding one of a miniature cave. A utopia for the unfrozen water to trickle through in search of uncertain warmth. I linger for a moment longer and already I see this white exoskeleton cracking and peeling. I wonder how long it will be before one can toss a penny breaking its surface with a wish.

Gorgeous pictures. Thanks for sharing, especially for those of us who don't get much snow or ice at all.

Hi Michelle, Fascinating shots! I'm with Bone - we don't get enough extreme weather to create such happenings.
