calligraphy

cold gray initial lay
calved with a knock and
chisel in concrete. A
camber of three letters
certain to weather the
cessation of wind and
chafe hand across its skin.

I tried my hand at a Pleiades today. 3ww words are in bold.

Mmmm... I really enjoyed this one - the images are very concrete (fovige the pun) and very vivid. And I traveled over to your site, too, and am excited to see a new spot for writing prompts - I'm looking forward to joining in over there in the future. :)

Interesting poem - it reads from strong and cold to soft and quiet. I like it and will trek now to your other spot.

I absolutely love the use of calved in the first sentence... that initials can be birthed into cement is very clever.

I love all the c's in this -- it makes wonderful sounds and it looks great too. And you used really cool words too, like camber and calved. This is a really lovely poem.

Thanks for sharing the invented form of poetry with us, Michelle. Very interesting.

I really liked a lot of those words--camber, cessation, chafe.

I really like how you used "weather."

P.S. Sorry I didn't get to this sooner: I didn't get mine posted until tonight and I typically don't read any other's until I post mine :)
