Genocide

My poem came from reading this news article today. It disturbs me to think there are people out there this cruel.

Genocide

They wear mizzle in their eyes
Trying to console children's cries.
From blatant gypsy hands
Their pets succumb to bloodshot sands.
No pinion for flight
Into Heaven's warm light.
They come to rest beside Cibuco River
Beneath limes cover there is no shiver.
A child's laughter
Thirsty for their pet's safe hereafter.

How could such a thing happen? Good grief.......I like where you went creatively with your very tricky words! And where do you get the words from?

as an avid animal lover this cuts me to the quick... how can people do this "no pets" is an ignorant enough rule in itself,,, but to enforce it in such a way is criminal!!!!!

you did a wonderful job of evoking my emotion on this piece!!!!!

I read about it this morning. My mom sent me a link in Yahoo News. I was horrified and sad, and ashamed that this had happened in my homeland. I was angry for the pets who were massacred and for their owners, poor people who lived in the housing projects and whom were abused this way by inept politicians and corrupt private contractors. It is appalling.

Great poem! I'm at an awe at your ability to turn anything into a poem. All I can do is cuss.

I didn't hear about this until I read your poem and I feel for the animals. I've never been a great lover of animals but come on.
