Yesterday I heard this red bellied woodpecker sounding in the distance while watching two squirrels squirrelin' around. I didn't know I had captured him/ her until I came back inside. You'll have to click on the photograph to enlarge. It's perched on the long, bare tree to the left. Isn't it adorable?

If that tree belongs to you, it would probably be a good place for your suet cage. It looks like just the sort of tree they love. I think they are the prettiest of the woodpeckers and love to see them.
It took me a second to spot him. He's a lovely woodpecker and I'm glad you got a picture of him.
I have never seen a woodpecker or heard it peck. You have interesting animals in your neck of the woods. lol.
I love woodpeckers and squirrels. They are such fun to watch. I enjoyed this post as well as the squirrel in the one before this.
