Mourning Doves

Earlier this morning these two mourning doves were perched on different posts. They've been visiting my bird feeder for some time now. One will almost always fly over and eat from the feeder while the other is content picking fallen seeds from the ground.

Hope everyone had a wonderful New Year. Happy 2011~

Mourning doves bring such a sense of calm, don't they?
I am hoping against hope that chemo is not in your future, my friend.

Glad to see you're inspired to take photos of the nature you love.

I see a few Mourning Doves, but mostly it's Mynahs, Pigeons and Bulbuls.

Our doves on the ground attract a hawk who I sometimes see in the mornings. But so far, their quick actions scare the hawk away.

Hope you have a good 2011!

Good shots. I have seen a bunch near the feeder every day this week, but have a really hard time getting close before they take off.

Good luck tomorrow with your checkup, Naquillity. I will be thinking of you. Husband is home from hospital too and doing well. Am trying to get back into blogging also. Take care.

They are pretty birds and are fun to watch. We have a them, but I haven't seen many lately and so far I haven't been able to attract them to the feeders.

Doves always seem very patient at the feeders. They are beautiful birds but seem a bit "dumb". Every bird personality is different! Happy New Year!

I love the way the birds look on the posts and also the winter fields. There is something very beautiful to me about fields at rest in the winter. I hope that you are continuing to recover well from surgery. Good to see you're photographing nature. I find that very healing.

Doves are sweet...they are naturally ground feeders, but some of mine use the feeders too....

'my' doves almost always eat from the ground...they don't seem to like to perch on the feeders.

I am happy that you are recovering and that you are doing relatively well. You have been through so much {{hug}}. I can only pray that you continue to heal and receive nothing but good news. Be well, be strong and know that we are all praying for you and want to continue to see your beautiful photos for a very very long time.♥♥
