Earlier this evening we went to meet my husband at his work. While we were waiting for him I spotted this walking stick. I'd never seen one to my knowledge before today so I was pretty psyched about seeing him. On the other hand I've seen quite a few praying mantises.
When we went to the zoo earlier this summer I actually held an Australian walking stick. Now that was cool. Sadly, I have no proof of this feat. Looking back I wish I could have had my husband or daughter take a picture as I'm not one to pick insects up of any kind.

woah!!! that is probably the coolest thing to find!! I'm SO jealous!!!
Great shot. I've never seen one. Happy weekend!
What a find, Naquillity! As for the Australian one, well, it looks like a cactus - incredible creature to have on your skin!
I recall the thrill of stroking a large (tame) Python when I was about 5...
Wonderful, you always find the most extraordinary creatures.
I've seen a few mantis on other North American blogs - but never one first-hand, and never a beastie like this one.
This is the time of year I usually see a few, sometimes they are green. Nice clear photo!
I love this...great catch !
I have not seen one of these guys since I was a child! And then they seemed commonplace in my Sydney garden! I remember my Dad calling them a "stick moth"! Why moth I have no idea! Great shot!
That looks too much like a stick, I'd have missed it!
How interesting, Ive never even heard of these before, let alone seen one.
Hugs and Happy Weekend, G

aren't they amazing?!
we have quite a lot of them around the midwest....but i never tire of seeing them.
I used to see them in Oklahoma, but not here in maine.
We also have these over here, but they are easy to find - mmmmmm I am not surprised. Always a cool find.
