Willow

Mourning willow
Your tepid tears
Stain the earth
While tranquil clouds
Pass the threadbare field
Bestowing nature's sunlight
Upon your
Familiar weeping skin
Unburden your salty leaves
Evermore bathed in
Friendless sanction
A solitary forest
Without foreign tongued dialect
Playing on the edge of weighted consciousness
A season in repose.

My poem is an old one made from an online magnetic poetry kit. The willow/ pond is something I pass on my way to town.

Ah, that's such a beautiful picture. I've always loved weeping willows. They are a most poetic subject indeed!
Well done, Michelle.

Now that is cool..the picture and your words!
Reminds me of an umbrella tree I used to climb as a child. (I wanted to post a haiku to a seasonal haiku prompt thingy I'm semi involved in) Gave me a bit of inspiration as I'm procrastinating. Have a great weekend-

It seems to be a day for sad tree poems, Michelle! I love your ekphrastic piece.

You might like to check out the other tree poem I have just read on the blog of my Romanian friends of Contemporary & Literary Horizon.

I am sick with a sore throat/head cold today, and this post made me feel soothed and touched. The poem and photo work together perfectly. Weeping willows are one of my favorite types of trees - with their deep emotion. :)

I'm curious - did you load in an older poem and the online program rearranged it?

I think it's really cool that you made that with one of those magnet kits and then wrote it down. How unique!

how lovely & sad, this one, I think is one of my favorite of yours, I find it to be full of emotion turmoils and perhaps a release at the end, as if saying goodbye to a love one of sort

It's a beautiful, full willow, Michelle, and your words are a wonderful companion to it!

Willows do seem to convey a grace and pathos, more than most other trees...

Lovely photo Michelle. I love willow trees as we had one in our backyard as a child. It provided a lot of fun and shade for playing children.. Michelle

Really quite lovely; I am intrigued by the idea of the solitary forest. Willows are so rich in history and meaning.
