Withdrawal

I'd been experiencing camera withdrawal these past few days as I'd not had the time to take any new pictures. But, yesterday evening a moment presented itself. This turkey vulture was picking at the freshly mowed field adjacent to our house.  I carefully stepped outside, walked up to the barbed fence line and zoomed my camera onto this fine specimen.  Seventeen pictures later he flew away. This was my favorite shot.

baby frog

Tonight while my husband was weed eating he found a baby frog for me to photograph. He's adorable don't ya think?

I promptly fixed him a Tupperware aquarium and placed him on the deck for his photo shoot. He posed in many positions even tried to climb out of the aquarium for effect. When it was time for him to go my daughter placed him in a nearby creek.

Side note: I wanted to let everyone know I'm behind again on commenting. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on Sunday. Until then, may everyone have a great weekend.

Between Pregnant Puddles and Abandon

9
COM

Friday our bodies are spiced with sweat, debris and mud from a two mile hike and a hot, tempered sun.  We hear the sound of our feet squelching mud as frogs jump across our paths. Somewhere between pregnant puddles and abandon we stand as giant sentries before a green frog and watch fritillary butterflies fluttering from one clover to the next.

Lane's end reveals an abandoned barn slightly askew on the land's shoulders. Inside its belly the growling has subsided. No farmer to tend it's needs.

We continue to splinter ourselves along an upright path to an abandoned church where we hear crows squawking. Their argument is taking residence to our right. Once we reach the clearing that allows us to see them they fly away. We can hear them in the distance, voices still echoing their disagreement.

Along the mountaintop we hear rain. The sound grows louder but, no drops touch our skin. Instead, the sun is holding us in its bondage. Overhead we see it was the power lines and finish our hike uphill at the churches front door.

Flower Box Garden

COM

Some weeks ago I was given some broccoli plants to grow in a garden I didn't have, lol. I was so excited to receive them I went out and bought some top soil a few days later. Promptly I began to plant and water the broccoli in my improvised flower box garden.

Last night I went out to water the plants and was doin' the jiggy dance when I saw my first broccoli head peeping through the green leaves. To celebrate their growth I pulled all the weeds that were sprouting too.

Please note my excitement over the growth of these plants comes from the fact I've never had a green thumb. Everytime I try to plant flowers around the house... they die. So, I fully expected the broccoli to do the same. Instead I was pleasantly surprised by this tiny growth.

2nd Photography Club meeting

9
COM

Laundry, dishes and errands in town are but a few things I did today. And, at 6pm I went to my second photography club meeting where I got to share my color and black/ white photos. Everyone was in agreement that I needed more contrast. They also suggested that I could crop away the excess to the far left and right of the pictures. Otherwise, I think they liked it. Our next assignment is to take pictures of old buildings/ abandoned houses. I'm pretty excited about this as it is something I enjoy doing already.
