Hormonal Winter

a winter- chilled yesternight
wined the vitreous trees
once-stark below the
lank skies ceiling
and found morning limpid
with a lacquered white varnish.

The above was written from an online magnetic poetry kit. I thought it fit my picture well and whose view is from my front porch. We've received 5 1/2- 6 inches of ice/ snow in the last two days and I'm hearing we are due to get more.

Fountain Ice

Tuesday I went downtown to take some pictures of a friends art exhibit when I noticed the town's fountain water frozen. Walking around its perimeter I found stalactites and stalagmites fusing to the fountain rock's underbelly reminding one of a miniature cave. A utopia for the unfrozen water to trickle through in search of uncertain warmth. I linger for a moment longer and already I see this white exoskeleton cracking and peeling. I wonder how long it will be before one can toss a penny breaking its surface with a wish.

Mini Ice Sculpture

I could feel bitter winds whittling away at the last bit of bodily warmth as I laid belly to frozen ice for this close up yesterday. The large corridor surrounding me in half light, half darkness. I search the eyes of this birdlike creature and wonder how she became a sequin nested between two brown walls and a ceiling that echoed overhead cars.

A Feather Black

A clever crow will always paint its feather black.

Today I stopped at Wal-Mart for Subway's Grilled Chicken Sandwich when I spotted this beautiful seagull flying around the parking lot. I'm impressed I was able to secure as good a picture of her in flight. I think it odd to see her in the middle of winter flying above an ocean of cars instead of amidst sea air and sunshine. Nonetheless, I'm pleased I could share her visit.
